The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for Mammon in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top biopic regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Andrew Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who states early on, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye begin monetising the nation's religious faith. It's a riot of tacky decor, bad makeup and bad faith, though Chastain achieves to present the character as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, late night, Film4
